Mrs. Sandy Darlene Peters of Knoxville passed away at home on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 56 after a long battle with COPD. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on July 2, 1959 to Ray and Joyce Childress at Ft. Sanders Hospital. Sandy was a graduate of Powell High School. She was a very kind, generous and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Before Sandy became ill she worked at Whirlpool Corporation and spent many years helping those in recovery and had a great impact on many women’s lives. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. Her granddaughter Autumn lived with her and her husband Ben Peters III for 12 years and she was the apple of her Nana’s eye. She loved spending time with her friends and making jewelry for them all to wear. She would do her best to help anyone in need and would always put others needs above her own. While we are heartbroken that she is gone we know she is in the arms of Jesus and suffering no more.
Sandy was preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister Kathy Damron; and her son Shannon Wayne Moore.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 20 years Ben Peters III; her children Shawna Davis and Anthony Moore; her grandchildren, Autumn Moore, Ryan Davis, and Ally Davis; her sister Donna Hatcher; along with countless friends whom Sandy had a lasting effect on.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Woodhaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Rd, Powell, TN 37849.
