Obituary for Daniel Wayne Reed

Daniel Wayne Reed
Daniel Wayne Reed, 51, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Sunday, June 5th. He was resting comfortably at home with his family by his side. He was the owner of Reed’s Painting Service which operated in the greater Knoxville area for over 20 years.

Danny, as he was known to most, was also an avid fisherman who loved Watts Bar Lake. It should be known that he had the idea for many products before they came out and could also predict the commentary of many sports casters. He was a patient, kind, and loving man. His family will miss their husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and grandfather.

Danny is preceded in death by his granny Rinda Reed. He is survived by his parents Juanita “Sue” Spradlin, and Joe & Glenna Reed; his brother and sisters, Bill Reed, Tommy Stansberry, Sheila Diamond, and Tammy Kounty. He will forever be held in the memory of his loving wife Kym; their children, Kasey, Katlin, and Nina; and his granddaughter, Hadley Ann. Hadley Ann will miss her Poppy very much.

There will be a short visitation at noon just before the 1 p.m. service Saturday, June 11, at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Rd, Powell. There will also be a Celebration of Life held on June 25 at Melton Lake Dam Overlook Pavilion #1, in Oak Ridge.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made a charity or the University of Tennessee Hospice program. Their compassion and care were a comfort in his time of need and we, the family, greatly appreciate all the nurses.

If love were money Danny would have been the richest man in the world. His personality was infectious. He had a way of making people happier than a dog with a bone, and was never too proud to go along with you when you’re right. We love and miss him more than you could ever know.

Thoughts and condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook. Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens are honored to serve the Reed Family.
