Obituary for Douglas Eugene Shumate

Douglas Eugene  Shumate
Douglas Eugene Shumate, 84, of Karns, TN, passed away on the evening of Saturday, December 3, 2016, with family by his side. He was of the Assemblies of God faith. Douglas faithfully served our country during the Korean War, from 1951-1953, in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Myrtie Shumate; his loving wife Lovisa Shumate; 9 sisters and 2 brothers.
He is survived by his sons Douglas R (Paula) Shumate, Carl Shumate, and Lester Shumate; daughters Valerie (Billy) Cansler, Lovisa (Larry) Pratt; 21 grandchildren, Jason, Carl B., Kaia, Les, Jenni, Nikki, Christian, Terriann, Shawna, Trey, Amanda, Michelle, Brittany, Alisha, Larry, Zach, and Kayla; 22 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his sister, Dorothy Gibson of Akron Ohio; and his brother-in-law David Townsend.
On Wednesday, December 7th the family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm, at Woodhaven Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 8th at 11:30 am at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery; located at 2200 Gov. John Seiver Hwy 168, Knoxville, TN 37920.
