Obituary for James Paschel Rice

James Paschel Rice, 75, of Maynardville, TN, passed Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Jim served our country with honor in the US Navy. He later retired from serving our state where we served as an Inspector of the State of Tennessee. Jim loved the outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing, scuba diving, or riding his motorcycle. He was skilled at knife making, leather crafting and tying fly-fishing lures.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh & Mary Elizabeth Rice; and his brother-in-law Vernon Carroll Davis, who Jim took special care of till Vernon’s passing.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 10 years, Norma Rice; his daughters and their spouses, Gwen & Joe Bruglio, and Stacy & Mike Bidwell, and his son, Jim Huffstetler; his step children Lauren and Patrick Henry; 13 grandchildren, including his best bud James Bruglio; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Deb Forster and husband Bob; 3 brothers-in-laws and their wives, Gary & Linda Davis, Ronnie & Lucy Davis, and Richard & Pam Davis; plus many other special family members and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2017 from 1-2 pm with a Service of Remembrance to follow at 2 pm at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, TN 37849. Pastor Richard Nicely will officiate the services. Inurnment will follow the service, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Pat Summit Cancer Research Center at UT Hospital.
